Incidental Cost for Family and Friends

As a family member or friend there are added cost that are just not readily seen but are noticeable in your everyday routines and quality of life. Family and friends who are providing support to a loved one truly start to understand the value of time and financial sacrifices made to care for the person that they hold near and dear to their heart.

If you are a family caregiver or friend providing care support, you understand that this responsibility requires a considerable amount of your time and attention to meet the changing needs of your loved one or friend and to insure that they are being cared for as they deserve. As a caregiver, you get phone calls at all times, day and night and often nd yourself coordinating transportation to and from medical appointments, grocery shopping and other errands. Furthermore, in addition to taking care of your home there is the task of keeping up with the cleaning and maintenance of your loved one’s home. In many cases you are the one who is insuring that the bills are paid, provides companionship, and takes care of other tasks or problems that arise, as needed. And you do this while managing the other responsibilities you have, such as your job, family, and trying to take time for yourself.

It is not unusual to see family or friends pass on promotions at work, reduce hours at work, or move to a part time position in order to insure that everything that needs to be done for their loved one and family can be accomplished. As a result of these lost hours or opportunities the family caregiver or friend may reach a point in which there is a real impact on their financial situation now and in the future, specifically when it comes time to retirement.

With this said, when reviewing the cost on Redhaven Care Homes Cost Comparison Sheet, take in considerations these addition costs and lost opportunities. You and your loved one will still be in charge of their care here in our Home but as the family member or friend you will not be responsible for the time-consuming, day-to-day responsibilities that the Home will provide your loved one.

I encourage all of those involved in caring for a loved one to take a look at how our Home can help your financial and emotional wellbeing, as well as improving your quality time with your family, loved one, and/or your job. You may find that allowing our Home to do the job is a wise financial decision that allows for the gift of time.
